About Us

Jiangnan University North American College (“North American College” for short) is an International Cooperative Educational Institution for nurturing students’ talents in the fields of high technology and business administration. JNU North American College is supported by a Cooperative International Program involving five Universities and Colleges, namely Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, Northwood University U.S.A, Lambton College, College of North Atlantic, and Jiangnan University, China, which is one of Key universities of “211 Project” directly under the Ministry of Education.

North Americancarries out credit hour administration. Its students are expected to complete their study in four years. Outstanding students are provided with the option of early graduation, if they complete their prescribed credit hours ahead of time.

TheCollege combines diploma-level study and degree-level study together in its teaching plan. For the first three academic years, students are registered at overseas cooperative post-secondary institutions and obtain their diplomas upon completion of their diploma-level study. Fourth year students can have their earned credits transferred to, and also be registered at North American overseas cooperative degree-level universities if they meet the minimum requirement in English Language Proficiency. Students can also obtain their Bachelor Degree upon completion of their credit hours as required.

One of North American College’s strengths is that it offers a flexible mode of study. During their four years, students can choose to complete their studies without going abroad. Meanwhile, they enjoy the opportunity of applying in due course to study at our Overseas Cooperative Educational Institutions until their graduation. The credits they have earned while studying in China are transferable to our corresponding Cooperative Educational Institutions. Regardless of where students complete their study, they will obtain the same Diplomas and Degrees.

The faculty of North American College is composed of both Chinese and overseas instructors. According to the requirement of the curriculum for each semester, English language courses and some professional courses are taught by overseas instructors from North America, Great Britain and Australia recruited by our Cooperative Educational Institutions, while other courses are taught by faculty members of Jiangnan University. North American College enjoys some of its own teaching facilities and lab equipment and also shares other related resources with Jiangnan University. All the textbooks used by North American College are in The English language. Our cooperative Partners designate these teaching resources. North American has adopted a teaching mode, which progresses from bilingual teaching, to all English teaching.

North AmericanCollege is strict with its academic administration. As aforementioned, the college uses curriculum, textbooks and teaching guidelines provided by its cooperative Partners while taking the actual situation of China into consideration to ensure high quality teaching. North American College adopts the education ideology that; “Everything we do, we do for our students” and adheres to such a guiding principles as “Quality comes first, management standardizes, and features stand out” and sticks to its educational principle “strictness, firmness and carefulness”.

NorthAmerican College has run its cooperative program for twenty-one years and has reaped outstanding achievements. Our teaching quality has been well recognized, both at home and abroad and has yielded a positive social influence and reputation. We have witnessed an excellent employment situation for our graduates since the Year 2001. Our solid professional foundation and excellent English language proficiency have allowed our students to compete well against graduates from other Universities and Colleges in China. Many of our students have found themselves with several job options and most do not worry about finding employment. Some of our students have been accepted for postgraduate studies by renowned universities such as Oxford University, London University, Manchester University, Reading University, Nottingham University, New York State University and California State University, etc.
